Who do we help
Over the last year alone, the MEC has conducted fundraisers for Afghanistan, Syria, Palestine, Pakistan, India & Bangladesh. These countries have been facing tragic and unprecedented challenges.
The MEC sponsors charity representatives which our Imams and board members validate; people who have personal connections to the crisis they appeal for. Often these representatives are from our own community who aim to make a difference elsewhere.
Why do we help
When we see the tragedies afflicting our Muslim brothers and sisters, it is as if our own bodies are pained, and we recognise the remedy to our own personal grievances comes only from Allah SWT. The prescription of charity is a sense of pride for the Muslim who realises the reward from giving, and satisfaction in knowing they are part of the solution.
It is also a responsibility to help those in need when we have been chosen to possess more, and part of our success lies in sacrificing the material wealth we love. The ability to help alleviate the suffering of another is an opportunity from Allah SWT to His servant, and we recognise our wealth only increases with charity.
We therefore pay attention to charities both home and abroad, and we offer our investments with belief it will better our own lives here and the hereafter.
