What is the Youth Experience Programme?

The ‘Youth Experience Programme’  is a MECAWT- first  initiative with the aim to provide an opportunity for our youth to contribute to the community and gain valuable experience at the same time. By participating in the programme, young people will have the chance to build their skills, make meaningful contributions, and gain hands-on experience in a supportive and welcoming environment. We believe that this initiative will not only benefit the youth, but also enhance the overall vitality and impact of our centre.

Why have we started this programme?

As a centre, we understand the importance of providing opportunities for our youth to grow and develop into exemplar role models. Community work & love for the masjid starts from a young age; this programme is a perfect starting point to allow our youth to develop skills,  build relationships and give back to the community.

“When you see a person taking care of the Masjid, then bear testimony to his Īmān (faith)" (Our Beloved Prophet ﷺ)

What are the benefits of joining the programme?

There are numerous benefits to youth volunteering at the centre. Some of the key benefits include:

  1. Skill development: Young people can gain new skills and experience in areas such as event planning, community outreach, and leadership.

  2. Giving back to the community: By volunteering, youth can contribute to their community and make a positive impact on those around them.

  3. Building relationships: Youth can make new connections and form strong bonds with others in the community, leading to a sense of belonging and a deeper sense of purpose.

  4. Personal growth: Volunteering can provide a sense of accomplishment and help young people develop a strong sense of self-esteem and confidence.

  5. 1-2-1 Personal Mentoring: Participants of this programme will have direct access to an imām who will guide them and provide advice.
  6. Building resumes: Volunteering at the masjid can provide valuable work experience that can be added to resumes and help young people stand out in the job market.

How will young people benefit spiritually from this programme?

It is without doubt that volunteering and sacrificing one’s time for the sake of Allah ﷻ has a profound impact on one’s spirituality and closeness to Allah ﷻ . By giving time and energy to serve others and support their community, our youth will deepen their connection to their faith and develop a strong sense of purpose.

Participants in this programme will learn to live out the values of their faith in a tangible way, and experience the joy and fulfillment that comes from serving others. They will also have the opportunity to learn from and be inspired by other members of the masjid community, and develop a deeper appreciation for the role that the masjid plays in their lives and in the wider community.
